About images (AI-generated)

Why we use AI-generated images

The goal of this site isn't to "prove a photo was taken on the spot," but to "help you understand the ideas of composition visually." When explaining composition, what matters is that subject placement, negative space, where the eye is led, and how lines read are all clear. AI-generated images make it easy to prepare several compositions of the same subject as a consistent set of examples.

To avoid misunderstanding

The example images on this site include AI-generated images. These are illustrations meant to show composition, and are not necessarily actual smartphone photos. Please note that they don't prove a real shoot or guarantee how an example turned out.

Per-article notes

Each article shows a note about where its images come from. When real photos are used, or AI-generated and real photos are mixed, we state so within the article.
